Hey everyone,
Newbie here. After purchasing my 93 Glastron in September of 2010, I have found a few soft spots in the floor. Since I have the boat out of the water and in my garage for the winter, I decided to replace the floor myself. I have never done this type of project before & have never worked with fiberglass before. I have done lots of searching/reading of posts in this forum, but I know I am going to have questions (Mostly about the glassing prep.)
I started the project last weekend. So far I have the interior seats/trim removed & I have the fiberglass floor cut out exposing the rotten wood. The wood is in good enough shape for me to use as templates for the new pieces. However, I dont understand why the factory decided to position the pieces the way they did. The positioning seems to have created a weak spot in the floor where water would easily penetrate. I would like to hear your comments on the wood placement before I decide to change the design. Once i clean up all of the fiberglass dust, I will take some pictures to show you guys my progress.
Thanks,
Mark B
