floor and transom repair??/

hi guys <br />my boat project is about to begin. i am rebuilding the floor and transom. what exactly do i use to make the stringers out of? what size of cloth or mat do i need? any help would be appreciated.. do i use mat on floor first or cloth.. ill be using poly resin all thru the floor and transom..
