Float Height

I have bought a 1979 Johnson 6hp Seahorse Model 6BAL79E. The inlet needle valve gasket was missing. I have replaced it with a copper washer but am unsure how thick it should be. As this is critical in determining the float height, can anyone please tell me the exact dimensions of the float gauge so that I can make one and set it correctly.

1st get a kit and fix it correctly. i turn the carb upside down, and the end away from the hinge, i like just a little higher, than the hinge side.
