I have a 2008 Seadoo 155 GTX jet ski with only 7 hours on it. Took it out in the ocean and managed to flip it over. I think the right drain plug somehow got lose and the rest is history. I flipped it back over but the engine was about 75% submerged for 45min to an hour until I could get it out of the ocean. I immediately drained the main compartment and took it to the dealer the following morning. The rep said it was "hydro-locked" meaning water in the motor etc. The service guy said they first had to get the water out of the engine; however, there was no guarantee as to how long the motor would last from this point regardless. He asked me if I had insurance on the jetski. My original salesperson walked up a said it's needs to be totaled???? I realize that these machines are not made to flip over etc, but how does my $ 10K investment amount to this? Why not clean the water out, change spark plugs, the fuses, and the fluids? The selling point of the jetski was that SeaDoo was the best motor out there. Any suggestions?

Wow, where should I start.
Your rep might be right. You should've done something as soon as it was on land, not the next day. Even with immediate attention, a saltwater dunking often leads to future mechanical and electrical problems.
First, saltwater isn't good for any part of the engine. It'll damage or corrode pretty much anything it touches for more than a few minutes. It needs to be completely flushed with fresh water ASAP. If the engine was running when it got dunked, then it's likely to be toast (bent/broken rods). If it wasn't running, the hydrolocked engine needed to have the crankcase oil changed and spark plugs removed. The next step would be to crank the engine to expell the water IMMEDIATELY to minimize any more damage. Next, squirt a little oil into each cylinder and install new plugs. Drain and re-fill the gas tank. Re-start it and run it gently until thoroughly warmed up. The crankcase oil needs to be changed until it comes out perfectly clean.
As far as SeaDoo making the best motor- that's entirely subjective, but NONE of the manufacturers make an engine that'll survive water injestion.
Good luck. Hope you're insured.

Yep. If it's not flushed in a matter of hours, you may some serious issues.
