Flat rack shore station question

Just purchased a shorestation, model ss36108a, which has a flat rack. I have a V bottom boat. The shorestation has two cradle pads on the back and nothing on the front beam. I have never seen a boat on one of these. Are those two pads able to hold the boat and should I put something on the front beam? Is there some sort of conversion kit to install bunks on this sort of model? I have looked everywhere and have struck out.

Hi, I was wondering if you ever found a solution to add bunks? I have the exact same lift and want to add bunks.

Re: Flat rack shore station question

I called Hallgerg Marine, a shore station dealer here (in Minnesota) and the guy there said just add 2x6's covered in carpet because they don't make bunks for that style lift (non-V style?). I have to admit I'm pretty green. I was given the lift so I've done zero research on lifts so far ...

I'm planning on going with 2x6's but I thought I'd see if anyone else has done it already and how it went. Maybe pick up some tips and tricks.

I bought two more pads to attach to the front I beam and I'm planning on running two 2x6's from front to back attached to the pads I am also planning to attach square aluminum tubbing to the 2x6's to provide more stiffness. Any thought?

I have a 19' ~2500 lbs fiberglass tri-hull (hurricane 198 fundeck).

Thanks for the response.

Be interesting to see what the lift looks like. I'm not sure what a non-V lift is, the lift that my FIL uses with his Malibu is just flat cross bars with bunk brackets attached to that. I do think that his bunks are aluminum though. Something like this:
ShoreStation Ultra Bunks - Replacement Hull Bunks for Boat Lifts

Although his brackets and crossmembers look like the ones in this picture

Re: Flat rack shore station question

I think the V refers to the crossmembers shape??

You're right though, the second link is just exactly what I need. In fact in the description I see :
Kit Option 4: For ShoreStation SS26108A and SS36108A models with 5.5" I-Beam

Looks like I could have had it to my doorstep for $215.18
Too bad the ShoreStation dealer didn't tell me about that option before I ordered the other parts that are due on my doorstep today ...

So far I'm in it for $166.96 (includeing tax and shipping) on the other parts and I don't even know if it'll work yet ...

Headed up north this weekend to figure it out, I can let you know what happened if you're interested.

Hopefully it works out for you. It is a good reason though to call Shorestation directly and not a dealer. I think the dealers are pretty focused on just selling complete lifts and don't neccessarily take the 5 minutes to check the internet/catalog for parts.
