So I accidentally stepped on a boat hatch window on the bow of a friend of a friends boat. And my foot went through the plastic window a little bit. And now it’s broke. I feel bad. I did it.

The boat is a 1990 Regal Commodore. The boat is not in great shape, worth $15k to $20k tops.

To get a new hatch window, it will cost $900 through Hood Yacht Systems/Pompanette Air. That is a decent amount of money. I’m wondering if anyone has other options to consider? Thank you in advance.

Measure the hatch glass, see your local plastic manufacturer, make a copy, spend a weekend rebuilding the hatch. Will cost you about $100

Or look on sites like great lakes skipper

You can also Google hatch repair glass

What Scott said! Replacing the lens is not to terribly difficult. I did mine in a day. getting the old bedding out and prepping the surface for the new lens is the hardest part. The old adhesive will be rock hard. Just go slow.

That boat has 3 deck hatches.2 small and 1 full size.Which did you break?
The full size hatch is surely available as a used part.I have seen them locally and on Craigslist for approx $100. As Scott already mentioned ,replacing and bedding the lexan is not that difficult but it is time consuming and not much margin for error.Very good Craigslist videos on this. The replacement Lexan is also available online.Bromar Pompanette sells on eBay. BTW in regards to your statement. "The boat is a 1990 Regal Commodore. The boat is not in great shape, worth $15k to $20k tops." I think you are attempting to make this less of a big deal out of what you did. IMHO YOU dont belong on a boat. The previous 33 years of this boats life no one else has stepped on the Lexan hatch. You need to be a stand up guy and make things right whether it costs you $100 or $900 ,plain and simple!! GET IT FIXED!! And do your friend a big favor and either stay off of his boat or stay off of his deck.

Another option: If your friend can live with it, cover hatch with fiberglass and Gelcoat.
