Just thought I'd post up that if your prop goes bad on your Fastwin and you can't get it rehubbed, you have an option. A Solas # 2111-093-11P prop is a pretty good match for the original, but you have to do a little work to it.

There is an internal ring that is thicker on the Solas and some of the material has to be removed so that it can spin freely. It also lacks a step in the bore that the OEM has. Because of that the prop was hanging up on the hole where the shear pin goes. I Dremeled the shaft smooth around the hole which allowed it go all the way on. Then took off enough aluminum on the ring so that it would spin freely. It wasn't too hard, but not super easy either. Had to make it work though, because props and hubs for these are pretty hard to find anymore.

The slot you're working in is pretty tight. You'll need a few long thin grindstones. Also took a little bit of material off the motor because I didn't want to make the ring in the prop too thin. I'm not sure that's necessary though. You just got to get the prop to not rub.

^^Useful info./contribution.

The first choice would probably be to locate an old time outboard shop with a supply of used props. Second choice might be to locate a parts motor for $50 or so. Finally, it might be worth checking for 10hp Sportwin props of the same vintage, as some 10hp parts interchange with the 18.

Prop shaft diameter on a 1963 model 10 HP is 0.554"-----The 18 HP is 0.625" on a 1965 model.

I tried a bunch of prop shops. None had a hub, all said I was SOL. After hours of searching online only Green Bay Prop listed one for my engine. After the fact they said that some motors were slightly different, but thought I should be able to make it work.

I did not really want a used prop, or a NOS hub either as just like with tires, even if never used it would be weak and ready to let go. The prop on this motor was fine until I got it running well. Then first time out on the water it spun the hub. Sometimes I have all the luck....LOL

Good to know that some Sportwin parts interchange. Thanks for the tip. I'm pretty happy with the Mirrocraft/Fastwin. She's a keeper. Not so much with the Alumacraft/McCulloch 14 which I took out for the first time yesterday. Going to put a smaller motor on it and probably end up selling it in the spring. I like the Mickey C, but it seems like too much power for this flat bottomed boat.
