Model no BE60TLEOC
1995 60hp evinrude 3 cylinder.

Ok here is my question.
what would be the problem (if any) of fitting a SET of1987 carburettors on a 1995 engine.
The engine is a 60hp 3 cylinder 920cc or 56cu in how ever you want to look at it.

the only difference between my engine and the 70hp version is carb sizes and decals.

I just cant find any sensibly priced 70hp carbs for the engine of same type (1992 to 2001).
But I can find a set from a 1987 engine. (supposed to be 1987 )

What I was thinking is just take off the choke butter flys from the older ones and blank off the holes in the carbs.

My engine uses the electric solenoid type choke that feeds the intake manifold behind the carbs with the red lever.
the older carbs have the manual choke levers.

is there any reason why swapping these over would cause a problem ?

I just want to get that bit extra oomph and by putting on 70hp carbs I get instant extra 10hp and that's almost a
17% increase in power and on a small engine that is a huge difference.

was the 1987 70hp evinrude a 56 cu in engine or the 49cu in variant ?

The 1987 carburetors did not come with choke plates from the factory.--It also had the primer / injector.

are I see
what was the last year of the carbs with choke plates ?

at the moment I am only presuming them to have the choke plates.
with a bit of luck they are same as mine

I just found out the carbs are really a set from a 1979 70hp engine number 70EL79R....
so would be the older choke system..
