Uh, Link, you should have maybe listened to your instincts: it's illegal in Washington or Oregon to use live bait for any game or food fish. That's why the built-in live bait tank in my boat makes a lovely fender holder....<br />Fortunatly, in your case, the statute has tolled! ;)

thought i would throw in a twist on the baloon fishing that i use.good for catfish.i tie a safteypin style quick clip into yhe line above the rigging.to this i clip on a baloon and cast.when it reaches the desired spot i shoot the baloon with a bb gun.all is retrieved when i reel it in.works great when shore fishing near river navigation locks.current pull rig up next to the wall where the fish tend to hold

Thanks for the input. I looked it up shortly after making that post. Would have to look in a 1981 pamphlet but I'm sure it was the same. It was our first salt water fishing and we were renting a boat from the marina so we just followed his lead. (not smart)
