I just got my 2006 Q6SF, and look forward to bass fishing out of it this summer. I'd have bought a Nitro 289 Fish & Ski, but I preferred to stay married. . .

I made a plywood front deck drop-in, so I can remove the front cushions and stand in the bow area (without the seat in the way.)

Does anyone have any tips or tricks for enhancing the fishing experience?

Anything will be better than out of my previous Starcraft 1700 sport boat.

Re: Fishing from Q6SF

I added four flush mounted Attwood rod holders, two up front, two in back, to use for trolling and for night fishing. I also added the plywood platform you mentioned.

For my trolling motor mounted fishfinder, I have two cigarette plugs for a dc connection. The second plug is for a fishing light. The fishfinder is on a suction mount, so I can use it when I'm fishing up front, or when I'm trolling from behind the console, I can mount it there (I upgraded to a wireless trolling motor). I run the trolling motor and dc connection off the second battery, and have a minn kota two bank charger to keep my batteries topped off.

I have a cigarette lighter connection for my 10 gallon baitwell, and added two led lights on each side for night fishing.

This week I'm installing a 2-rod I-teak rod holder on each side of the boat.

I've been very pleased with the Q6SF as a fishing boat. I fly fish alot, as well as striper fish, and as I mentioned, still fish as night. There are some shortcomings, such as it doesn't troll well on the main motor, but all in all its a good compromise.

I'm getting ready to add a front fishing deck to my boat and I'd love to see some photos if you have any.

I haven't added the fish deck yet but in the works, any love the duallality of the ski fish, wish the fish finder was mounted differently, but did add flush mounted scotty brackets with the cabelas rod holder.

I'd be interested to see the rod holder pictures if anyone has some available. I've not yet fished from my new to me boat....as I am more concerned with getting the handling issues corrected before I put it back in the water. So far, the handling, and gel coat cracks are my only real complaints. Both of which I understand are common place on Tahoe boats.
