Re: fish in weeds

Ok Just got back. My Daughter is in town from Florida this weekend, She fishes in the Gulf for god knows what. Never been bass fishing. I hook up two frogs, I get a short stike, then nothing for the next hour. She is flipping a Zoom worm across a point and Bam! 18" 3.25lb Large Mouth (pictures to follow soon). I got skunked by me daughter! It was sure worth it though. She started asking if there are bass in Florida. I told her the Missouri bass are minnows compared.
I think she is hooked :)

Yes I must admit it is a stringer, I plan on rebuilding the boat this winter to add a live well, but it is all I had! Please forgive my redneck ways!

What do you guys use for fishing in heavy weeds? I went to a lake last night that was nothing but vegitation, worked a T-rig worm through some of it with very little success (3 short and 2 15") I know this lake has some big fish, but how can I coax them out?

You can use a rattle trap type bait with heavy spider wire or so and use it in the edge of the vegetation along the creek channels. when it gets hung rip the crap out of it and then let it sit there for a couple of seconds. I followed the pros on the local lake during the flw and the bass masters elite tour and they were using this method. Ive tried it and has worked several times but you have to have patience like I do not have:$

"are there bass in Florida" ROFLMAO

Nice bass! I especially like the way you didn't inflate the weight...an 18" bass at 3.25lbs sounds pretty skinny. Also like the way she didn't hold the fish out at the camera...you can really get a sense of the proportion - it's a good fish no need to try and "fool" anybody. Congrats!
