I have been told by a couple of other boaters that you can NOT hook your trolling motor and fishfinder to the same battery. Something about it screws up the transponder and gives false fish readings on the screen. Any truth?

Baloney. The battery is an electronic filter of the highest magnitude. In electronics, capacitors are used to absorb noise signal spikes. With a battery, it absorbs it all better than a little capacitor. Besides, even if it did have the remote possibllity of interfereing, you don't run your TM 24/7 but your finder does.....while you are on the water.

Want more technical info, ask.

Thanks Mark. I kind of figured it would be ok. I wanted to lighten up my boat by possibly getting rid of one of the batteries and hoped this would not be an issue. Worst case would be try it together and see, I could always put the second battery back in.

Ditto on Mark's advice. Never had an issue with my fishfinder and a single battery. The dealer installed it.
