First year for throttle/shift handle on Merc????

What was the first year Mercury or Mariner used the combo shift/throttle tiller handle? What horse power o.b's where they on?

I don't know for sure but I have a 76 tiller with cowling shifter,and an 88 tiller with tiller-shifter.

In 1980 they came out with a 18 HP and 25 HP.

About 1959 on 10, 15, and I think 25 hp. I had a 1960 15hp back then. Are you sitting down? It cost $415 new!
