I recently repaired a 1972 MFG by giving it a srtinger & deck replacement , after Ii finished the floor job I thought about the importance of keeping water out. I decided to paint the boats exterior with a good coat of paint. I have decided to use interlux 2000e sealant primer and a good white marine paint for a final coat... I was hoping you guys could get me started in the right direction. I never painted before. To begin I started sanding the heck out of the boat, the boats "white" paint was actually (over the years) turned into an amber clear gloss, whick I sanded off, I removed all scratches, dents & dings, I found NO cracks and NO scratches that cut into the glass of the hull, so thats a giood thing... the boat is smooth and I still plan on sanding the whole boat over again to get any small areas I may have missed. The boat is covered in a white dust and needs a wipe down. do I use mineral oil for this? after its all sanded and wiped down I was going to roll on the interlux 2000e with a small roller and be sure to coat the boat thourgouly. after that Im ready for the final paint, does anyone know a good (white) underside paint that will work on both the bottom and top (above water) part of my hull? does the interlux primer need sanded first? here is where im at with the gelcoat

ohFishing,

I did spray the top coat on the hull, however, I brushed the topside and also all the primer coats.

Peace.
