So I've been looking for late 70s, early 80s, Johnson/Evinrude outboard motors, about 10-15hp for my 14ft jon boat. I came across one through a friend the other day, Model number E10RCSE. I did some research, I believe this is a 1980 Evinrude 9.9 (10hp), Tiller handle, standard 15" shaft length. With that being said, he said that it runs but will die so you have to keep pumping the bubble in the fuel line from the tank, so i'm assuming it needs a new fuel pump. Is this true? What else should I look for when purchasing this motor? As a young-first time buyer, what should I look for/beware of? He said it's originally from Illinois, and that it has not ran in 5+ years. My mechanical experience is limited as of now, but very willing to learn, just want to make a sound purchase.
Also, based on these facts above, what is the max you'd pay for this motor? The exterior looks nearly mint condition, so it appears as if it was taken care of very well
