etracer68, jigngrub is correct. It is to stop the spread of the zebra mussels and milfoil here in Minnesota, you will have to check with your state. I only recently found out when we were putting in at a lake here in Minnesota and there was a DNR worker set up to talk about milfoil and mentioned that it was illegal in MN to transport your boat on the road with the plug in...

:) Not to laugh at your expense and please don't take offense if I do, but I did laugh out loud when I read that...

I haven't done that yet, but I am sure I will!!!

Re: first time on the water

The first outing was a sucess, yet eventful. Friday after work i went straight to the boat ramp, and my parents brought the boat. we all got to the ramp fine, we launched the boat fine, making sure the plug was in. we got the boat in the water, parked the truck and proceded to head out to the main channel. just as we left the dock, we went to put on our life jackets, and noticed they werent there. I asked my parents what did they do with them, did they put them into the boat. they said yes, but in a big zip up bag, i guess they thought they wouldnt blow away as they were traveling down the road. We went back to the ramp got the boat out of the water. on the way home i ws hoping that i would find them laying on the side of the street, and luckly i did, a nice gentleman hung them up on a post so i would see them. This whole mixup took about an hour. After that me and my dad went back to the ramp, mom went home, launched the boat and had a nice time on the water. the only problem we had was one of the live wells has a crack in the bottom, and as it was filled up with water it would leak water down into the bottom of the boat, no worries the bilge worked great. We got that fixed, and took it out again yesterday. the Whole weekend was a sucess
