Hey guys hope this is posted in the right place. I'm hoping someone can give me some advice on this boat i'm considering. It's a 1962 starcraft. The seller told me it's been in the family a long time and is in good shape. He repainted it inside and out and the motor has been freshly rebuilt. He also said it doesn't leak any water at all. He originally wanted 2000 which I thought was way high. He's now asking 1700. Do you guys think a $1500 offer is still too high? I'm getting the fever since it's so nice out but don't wanna overpay for something that just isn't worth it. What do you guys think?

Welcome agapes fam! Im not sure about denver prices, but here in MI that would probably be a $1000 boat set up. Maybe $1200, but its more is it what you are looking for? That 7.5 will push it along very nicely, and that trailer is in great shape. Anyways, again welcome!

thanks for the welcome and good advice. i'm still on the fence as of right now, it looks nice but definitely is priced too high in my opinion. i would happily give 1300 for it but feel as if that's almost insulting him if he wanted 2000 originally.

Welcome aboard

The reason that person is asking SO MUCH and SO HIGH over it's worth is the season. With a 7.5 that has been rebuilt (I would want proof) and even in pristine condition it is only worth about $700.

Sorry to bust your bubble but that guy is trying to take advantage. I have a 1963 (same exact boat) and the only way I could see getting close to $1300 is if I sold it with the 18 HP motor (I also have a 9.5 HP).

I would strongly suggest you keep shopping. Check iboats for used boats http://boats.iboats.com/used-boats/ in your area and I see other better deals on your CL in your area. He is asking higher then Dealer prices

I would absolutely walk away from the one you picked.

In my opinion, that's a super nice deep 14' on an extremely nice trailer with a pretty good motor. If that's the rig you're looking for, $1300 would be fair. He was way out of line at $2000 though. It would be nicer with a 9.9 or 15 on it but the 7.5 should do fine.
