Hey all,
This is my first time posting in this forum, but have been a long time reader. I bought my first project boat couple weeks ago for 500.00, which I think is a good deal. The owner said that the trailer alone is worth more, so if I can't get it running will be able to sell it again. Hoping I'll be ableto get it working right.
Have always been around boats, did alot of boating as a kid but never had one of my own untill now. I beleive that this is a 1979 Winner tri hull. The owner said it had been sitting for couple of years, but that 2 years ago he had it on the water went fishing with his kids. We did start the engine up for a bit , it didn't turn over but seemed like it was still in ok condition. I have no idea how many hours was on the engine, so that's going to be the first place I start.
I live in GA so looking to have it ready for summer, first thing I'll take it in to one ofthe local shops to see if the engine is ok. If it is I'll finish the restore if not then obviously sell it. I would work on the engine myself I just don't know enough to break it all down clean it and put it back together like I have seen some people do on here. That just blows me away when I see peole do awesome work restoring there boats.
So far though I have taken out the seats, the sides, and the seats in the bow, head cushions, and engine cover is all gone now. There was so much wood rot under everything I had to trash it and start over, was no use keeping anything on the interior due to the wood rot.
Look forward to gettting this boat up and running though..The Engine is a Mercrusier 120.
