Hey guys, I got my first boat for very cheap. This project has been a learning experience to say the least. It has leaky seems and rivets, rotted wood, but a good transom and decent paint job on the hull. The trailer needed lights and fenders, and it took me a year to make the motor operational but it fits my budget. So now I got the motor and trailer online, it's time to make the boat sea worthy!

That album is where I am so far. So the current plan is to seal the boat with Gluvit, paint over it, and I am replacing the benches. I will be sealing the benches with spar varnish later in the week. The original setup of the boat (as you can see in the pic when I am fitting the benches) is with the bench across the back. I got a wicked wood grain vinyl wrap that I am going to put on the air boxes for under the benches.
I was thinking of changing the setup to 2 parallel benches in the back (as you can see in the drawing). Does this setup make sense? If you look in the picture with the benches, there are 2 ribs in the boat at the back. Are these strong enough to support the rearranged benches? Or is the back of it going to lose stability?
Also, for the floors. Are 2x4 supports too heavy? Would I use 2x2 instead?
Any general information on the boat and input into the project would be greatly appreciated. There's a lot of things I don't know and I came here to learn it so I don't miss any key points with the boat.
