Wow, exciting to say the least...glad it all turned out well!

Wisdom come from experience and experience comes from mistakes... Of course, I'm not implying you made mistakes, but merely having things go "wrong" is a great learning moment!

It's good that people post their experiences and what went wrong and what they might do differently.

When I used to fly small airplanes, I would always read the articles in one of the flying magazines called " I learned about flying from that". Very similar.

As a former firefighter/engineer we read A LOT of NIOSH reports. Gave us great hindsight and perspectives on accidents/when stuff goes wrong (unfortunately, usually ending in death)! We's discuss it in trainings as to how we could have either a) avoid situation, or b) a different approach for a positive outcome (merely speculation?).

Glad that you made it back safely and I understand the level of fear that the situation is capable of instilling. I had a similar experience a couple of years ago, I did many things wrong....beginning with heading out when the red flag warning was shown at the launch ramp.

It was actually great to read the above referenced thread again, the responses offer excellent advice...Sorry if I hijacked, just excavating an experience that may help others.
