Hello folks,
i will do my 1st ever compression test on 2005 V6 4.3 Mercruiser,
I want to do dry then wet, but how much oil i should pour into the cylinder for the test?
All plugs out, WOT then 5 cranks per cylinder, am I right?
Thanks

i wouldnt bother doing them wet

however if you really want to, just a brief spritz of WD40 is all that is needed

new motor has 150 psi on each cylinder
good motor has about 140 psi on each cylinder
worn motor would be 120-130 psi on each cylinder
bad motor would be 100 psi or less

if you read higher than 150 psi, your gauge is off or you have oil in the cylinders

Do you know the way how to turn off the spark?
because im worried of cranking the engine with all the wires disconnected from the plugs...

Buy a good manual before proceeding. UL thank me later. Good luck!

Oh, the guy here mentions about grey one

I will just remove "+" from the ignition coil or pull the coil wire off the distributor

Haha as always I love your sense of humour ;)
ok, to be 100% sure, heres a diagram for 4.3
I have to remove "A" from the rotor cap (1) and ground it to the engine?

or go to your controls and pull the man overboard lanyard (which kills the ignition to the motor)

Got it, but also found info from Mercruiser that "
IMPORTANT: Ground the ignition coil wire (that goes to the distributor cap) directly to engine ground stud to prevent a possibility of a spark from the disconnected spark plug wires. When using a Remote Starter tool to crank the engine over, some engines may have the ignition coil energized by the ‘R’ terminal in the starter solenoid even though the key switch and the Lanyard Stop Switch is in the ‘off’ position."

your 2005 doesnt have points

it also has a PMGR starter, so no I/R terminal
