I'm having trouble with my 1998 Johnson 25HP 2-stroke (Mod#J25RLEDA). My top cylinder is not receiving a spark from the plug. I've changed plugs, swapped coils and plug wires, but still no spark on the top cylinder. Was thinking it's probably the power pack, but wanted advice on other things I could check before I made the costly order for the new power pack ($79).

Thanks for any help you can offer.

You are correct to assume that its the powerpack. Only other option would be the sensor coil under the fly wheel...its unlikely though.

TMD

Thanks for your vote of confidence. Guess I'll order the new PP today. I'll let you know how that turned out. Thanks for the quick response.

What is the sensor coil? Is that also called the Strator?

New powerpack arrived on Friday. Installed it, and everything works perfectly... Thanks.

Chris
