firing problem on a 2.5 omc

Ayuh,..... From the Points,....

Ignition power to the (+) side of the coil, the (-) side of the coil to the points,....

ok thanks im not getting any fire out the coil i put a new coil on and nothing i hooked it up just like they had it on the + side i got to wires a purple and a yellow with red stripe the purple wire run down into a plug that comes out and hooks to the starter and the yellow one goes from coil to alternator and on the - side i got a purple wire which i havent really traced yet and a black wire that goes to the distribitor

i can take main spark plug wire off and hold it while turning it over and nothing doesnt bit me at all also when i bought the boat the ignition was working now its not could the ignition be bad
