Another fire , wasnt a big one 20 acres or so but it burnt a ranchers round bale stacklot. I bet he would rather lost his house with hay prices like they are. IF that turns out to be another arson case and they catch him, their may be a lynching. We had 5 fires in 2 miles ou US 283 in Coleman Co. a while back, suspected arson. What kind of a bassterd does that.

Had a story a few weeks back on the news about some punk setting fire to a guys hay. I think that they said he lost about 50 or so bales. Dont think that they ever caught him, but he best hope the cops find him first, the ol boy whos hay it was as much as said that whoever was responsible was "fit to have a whoopin put on him".

For those who might not think the loss of 50 round bales of hay is a big deal, the current price in my neighborhood is passing through $90 on its way higher.

If it is arson, I hope they catch him/her and make him/her pay.

Re: fire sux

we have had over 3000 acre burned up here also.
The snow today helped but not enough like spitting on a water proof match. We are still under a burn ban and can not have campfires or grill outside. we pray for rain for you down in texas also. We have had forest fighters from kansas and colorado come into my work last month I asked them if the fire were bad then they said they were more woried about the month Of feb. they said that is our dry month, I hope we get more rain soon
Serenity

Re: fire sux

P.S. I do hope the rancher only had his hay burned up. Here we have lost cattle and some so bad there utters were burned off. I think the ranchers should have put them to sleep instead of let them suffer. But there they were eatin hay on the news the next day. and my sons agg. teacher lost eight cows to a fire ,he had to cut the fence to let them free to excape the fire. But he found all his horses.
Serenity

I have absloutely no sympathy whatsoever for people who engage in the wilful destruction of other peoples property.
When the suffering of animals are involved in such crimes, lynching may be too good a punishment for such a wicked and reprehensible abomination, a slow and agonizing death would be preferable

We had the same problem around here about six years ago. We lost around six thousand acres of prim timber land. Never did catch the fool or foolett which ever.

As for the hay problem in Texas I wished I could help with that but you know how that goes. I have some where around 200 round bales stored and have sold all my cattle except 2 beef steers.

I have been selling some to some locals but most has enough hay though.

I have just enough to get by for my horses. My goats are kinda on a diet. They get a little hay and then get tied out where they can munch for a while. The lady I buy my goats from has about 100 of them, she ran out of hay 3 days ago and hasn't been able to find any.

heycods -

Yes, ther was a female arsonist, caught, a couple years ago.
She was a forest range type, in Colorado, I think.
She discovered the fire.
Her description didn't jive with what the investigators found.

OK, found the news article. Here are the clips.

Terry Lynn Barton, 38, pleaded guilty to one state charge of fourth-degree arson in Teller County District Court Monday. Prosecutors said they would seek the maximum punishment of 12 years in prison at a sentencing hearing scheduled March 5.

Barton admitted she started the Hayman fire that burned 133 homes, one business and charred about 138,000 acres of forest. Four firefighters were killed driving to the fire scene and the firefighting cost was estimated at nearly $40 million.

"We are asking for the maximum sentence because we feel this fire endangered so many people," Teller County District Attorney Jeanne Smith told the Denver Post. "It was clearly the worst fire Colorado has ever seen."

Barton has also pleaded guilty to federal charges and faces up to six years in prison. A federal sentencing hearing is scheduled Feb. 21. The state and federal prison terms would run concurrently.

Barton wept in court as Judge Edward Colt asked her questions about the state plea-bargain agreement. The former Forest Service worker has said before that she was burning a letter from her estranged husband when the fire got out of control.

I remember at the time, there were reports that she may have set it intentionally, for the attention. Don't know what happened to those allegations, so maybe she doesn't qualify as an arsonist.

Re: fire sux

heycods - just had 2 seperate cases of arson in our area. Both women. Yep, there are female arsonists, but the men still outnumber the women in that respect.

I remember that, The woman was A game ranger. She should of known better I think making the people who start fires should have to do comm. service at a burn center for a while or listen to the loved ones of those burnt. We just had a troop leader meeting and we can't even have a fire in the fireplaces inside our cabins till fauther notice.
Serenity

They are about as rare as female rapists. Supposedly, rape and arson are just different ways of acting out on the same mindset or something like that.
