I have removed an old transducer, I filled the holes with a 5 min epoxy then countersunk the hole and filled it with marine grade resin one of the holes went right through. I want to put gel-coat paste over the repair but I need to make sure it will be water tight first.

Will this work?

Gel coat will not adhere to epoxies. Gel coat will adhere to polyester and vinylester resins. What exactly is "marine grade" resin? There are marine grade epoxy resins to which a gel coat will not adhere.

I used the resin that comes in the bondo fiberglass repair kit. I also thought I could cover the repair with 3m 5200 as opposed to the gelcoat..
