Filling live wells

We recently purchased a 2010 Suntracker 21ft fishing barge. We just love it, but are having a problem with filling the live wells. When we flip the switch, nothing happens. We checked the fuses and they are fine. Also the GPS would not charge in the power point, not sure if any of this is connected. We didn't get an owners manual with the purchase and we are new to boating. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! Jennifer

I assume that the toon is in the water, you can check the power point with a volt meter, for the live well is there a pump mounted on the rear of the port(left) pontoon?

Yes the pontoon is in the water. Is the power point and the live well electricity source connected? Jennifer

"Is the power point and the live well electricity source connected" if you mean do they use power yes, if you are asking if they are on the same circuit, on my Sun Tracker 21 they are not the power point is hot at all times and the live well is switch controled.

We will check it this weekend with a volt meter and see what we get. Hopefully the local dealer will contact us with an owners manual. It's like the "blind leading the blind", we have never owned a boat before and we are just learning our way around. Thanks!

Did you buy it from a dealer? Not sure about a manual for the boat, usually there is only one for the motor. You will be able to get lots of help here

dffj,
Just a thought, have you tried turning the ignition switch to the on position and trying the baitwell switch and the GPS switch? If that does not work, start looking for fuses and other switches.

You might also want to check to see if the valve is open in the live well itself. On mine the handle needs to be perpendicular to the tube. I also think the boat needs to be running or in the Accessories mode for it to run.

Yes I ran into this blunder myself. I replace my live well pump and it worked great. A few months later I tried it again and it wouldn't fill the well. It ended up I had the plug in the line inside the live well. Took out the plug and all was well :)

Based on my experience with my old 98 fishin' barge I would suggest you try replacing the pump. That is once you check plug placement and your fuse. It's located inside the bracket that your depth finder transducer is mounted to and is cheap and easy to replace. Probably just a standard 360-500 gph bilge pump. They get burnt out easily by debris wedging in the impeller or corrosion. Brings back memories. Sure do miss my ole tracker and that aluminum deck.
