a couple of projects coming and looking for advice. this morning i ordered a stainless anchor pulpit to mount to the bow (no windlass, still manual launch). will need to drill a few holes through the deck and will be putting 3/8" aluminum plate underneath for reinforcement but thinking about drilling hole slightly larger and filling then re-drilling to add protection. good idea? worth the time? i will be using 3M 4200 (or whatever is recommended) on the thru bolts.

second project. when i pulled my boat last fall we pulled it too far forward on the trailer and the bunk was sticking out too far and bent the brackets for my depth sounder transducer and also cracked the plastic mounting ears. shouldn't be too hard to fix that but was thinking about moving it over slightly to avoid thids happening again.moving closer to center will be tough because of the speedo unit so it would likely have to be moved closer to the outside. i understand this will affect my depth findings by a few inches but are there any other things to worry about? i can't think of any? if i do this what should i fill my old holes with? i have some spectra gel coat paste left over from another job. can i chamfer the old holes with a larger bit then fill them in? or would i need something with more strength? i can just install screws lathered with 4200 but i want it to look a little more professional.

not needed. liberal amounts of 4200 UV stable are all thats needed. however if you want to, it wont hurt

yes, you can just install screws lathered in 4200 or chamfer the edges, fill with gel, then wetsand and buff

Depending on the hull color, you could mix up some gel coat and fill in the holes remaining from moving the transducer. And once sanded, it would disappear into the finish never to be a problem again. JMHO
