About me and my project: I'm new here and plan to document this project with video and pix as I go and based on feedback from you all. I'm a DIY guy and actually built a 16' sailboat in shop class at age 15 while my classmates laughed, saying I couldn't do it. She was a beauty, but I should have stopped short of fiberglassing it and used marine paint and been done. Fiberglassing that boat by myself as a kid in the blazing backyard sun was too much to ask of the material and my lack of experience. Still, it was a fine and sturdy boat.
I'm 52 now and haven't fiberglassed since then and like I said, I wasn't that great at it then - but think with some advice I can do better now.
I'm reinforcing the area that WAS a livewell on my SeaPro 190 so that I can mount a winch for towing paragliders. I'll be adding plywood cores and layers of fiberglass to the inside surfaces (this SeaPro is all choppered glass inside) to make sure my winch doesn't yank off the starboard quarter and go down with a glider pilot attached.
I appreciate Any advise.
