Minivan bodies designed by Pininfarina?

When your prized bull, needs viagra, he might only get $200 at the sale barn, instead of the $10,000 you paid for him.

Two hundred bucks is better than nothing.

Maybe we should be thankful, at least somewhat for the amount of money, they were able to pay back, keeping 64K people working.

I wonder if Fiat will do like Mercedes and come back in a couple of years and say it was the biggest mistake they ever made?

Well, this is kind of the point, mscher, and a lot of folks don't, or refuse to, recognise it. And the number of people working was way, way mre than 64k.

I'm retired now, but in fall 2008 I was working for a Chrysler supplier. We also supplied GM, Ford, Toyota, Honda and others. If Chrysler had been allowed to fail, we would have failed, along with several thousand other automotive suppliers. That would have resulted in the failure of GM, Ford, Toyota, Honda and others. The industry really is THAT interconnected and interdependent. The Chrysler result not only exceeds the most optimistic expectations but the wildest hopes.

The Fiat takeover of Chrysler seems to be very positive so far. Hope that holds up. Contrast that with the Daimler takeover, excuse me "merger of equals", which to those in the industry showed itself to be poison within a couple of years.

Hard to say, bigdee, although as I mentioned in my other post here, Fiat appears interested in the business. Mercedes/Daimler was primarily interested in sucking up Chrysler's cash reserve. They really never showed any interest in exploiting the "synergies" available from the "merger of equals". Obviously when Fiat came aboard, there were no cash reserves.

Bassman, you have no idea what was on Daimler Benz mind and have no business turning this political.

Whatever your source, it had political objectives to bash DM.
