CN Spots: try the web site Ford Enthusiast http://www.ford-trucks.com/
Already there Phil. ;) You're right though, that's a great site for the Ford folks. I hang out in the '67 -'69 forums mostly. LMC Truck and Blue Oval Truck Parts are great sources for aftermarket/replacement parts and they each have great catalogs. Free catalogs! If you need trim, I'd look 'em up. Gonna be pricy though. I don't know if they changed the mounting hardware on the F-100 after 69 but the mounting clips on my truck's trim had a bad habit of rusting and leaving rust lines on the paint. Looks cool on a battleship, but not on a truck. Pop got the "full Monte" chrome package on his Ranger (actually anodized aluminum) and after working up some options in Photoshop, I'm probably going to remove some of it. I'm also considering a dropped I-beam set-up and flipping the axle/leaf springs and C-notching the frame, just to make her look a little more sporty.

BTW, I Like that kangaroo catcher on your grill. :D

spots

This is a particularly nice truck. It was given to me a while back from someone on this site. I think the skinny wheels and the hub caps make it.
Have also found it on another truck web-site but there is no name or address of the builder. I would need to track down the paint code, as the real colour could be decieving in the photo.Got this idea tucked away too. It is a cheap option too.(no mag wheels, no adjusting height, small amount of molding, just get 4 hub-caps of an ambulance..and a bit of paint...)
Cheers
Phillip

Here is a black one. I personally like black, but it seems to me the truck is toooo-big to be covered in black, and it needs something pretty dramatic to break it up.
I have spent hours thinking about this, and am not sure how to break it up. The chrome strip down the side, although wide, I don't think will be enough. That is why the black/burgandy 2003 F150 picture above looks so good.....they have broken the colours.
Can't think of how I would do it with a straight black. Anyone got any ideas, or maybe you have seen an idea drive past you lately?
Cheers
Phillip

Thanks for the site Rubber....I have been through it.
CnSpots...I go to the 73-79 area. I had already been to LMC but thanks for the Blue Oval.
Got a lot of info from them.
I downloaded the catalogue so hope that one is the same.
The price of some of that molding stuff is a bit much.
I have a guy coming around next week who does pin-stripes, but also carries moldings, apparantly in a range of styles.
I don't want to drill holes to attach it, and he has the stick on stuff. It has to be OK as all the modern cars seem to use it.
I am hoping he can curve it too.
In the back of my mind, I like the moulding that runs above the guards and sill by maybe 4" and curves like a "J" at front and back to connect with the centre long wide molding. Does that make sense? Don't know what it is called.
Do you have catalogues or pictures of the different 2-tone colours they used in combinations with this set up with moldings?
I am corresponding with a guy in Missouri who has pretty much what I would like in body. Only 99% sure of his colours,(well, maybe 100%, but want to see other combinations first.) and a slight change to the wheels.
I would like to drop mine by about 2" and put on a tyre that just fills the guards, and I want a bit of a rake. Mind you, to do this I have to come up with these moldings first, and that will allow me the scope to do the rest. I love these projects.
I am serious when I say this, I will listen to all ideas you blokes.
Cheers
Phillip

Can you just post the picture here?

I've only posted a few times on the Ford site, mostly reading and gathering info. I'll start posting more stuff on there when I start work on the '68. At the moment, I'm still in the "what to do with it" phase (sound familar ;) ) I went by the Co-Op this morning and ordered a 18x21' car port to keep her sheltered and provide some storage for all the trinkets and gizmos that pop took of the truck and stored in boxes. -It's like I inherited a full sized model kit. I figure keeping it out of the weather now will save me days of work down the road.

spots
