Hi Everyone,
Apologies if this has already been asked a 1000 times. But I have a stalling question I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction with...
I have a 2000 Volvo Penta 5.0 GL. It was given to me by a family member earlier this year.. so its my first boat and I am trying to learn and repair as much as I can on my own. The boat was running just fine for a few months that i had it. I then stopped using for a few months.. (got married, which took up a ton of time) Now the inlaws are down and I took them out on the boat yesterday.
The boat started up without a problem. I left it ideling at the dock (supervised) to go and park my truck & trailer. by the time I had gotten back the boat had stalled out. It took a few tries to start it back up again, and it ran fine for a little while longer and then sarted stalling out again..I tried to get the boat up on a plane and the boat stalled out...I could start the engine no problem, but it seemed like any time I gave it too much gass or not enough gas it would stall out. I limped back to the dock and pulled the boat out.. When i got home and started the engine to clean it with fresh water.. it ran fine. I gave it some gas and it stalled out a bit.. until I backed of the throttle and left it in idle...
My inlaws think its a carburetor issue... if anyone can give me some ideas on what they think it might be.. that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks you in advance.
FLA.
