Re: Extra Trailer Hub

You might be able to phone the trailer company and find out but otherwise you will need to remove the hub and see what size bearings you have. Also do you have 5 lugs or 6?

What I find confusing is that venture says all of the dual axle trailers use the same hub, its just the axle that changes.

Ayuh,.... My Guess is, that means the axle Quills(where the hub mounts) are common through-out the line, but the complete axle Assemblies vary,...

You should end with with the Right hubs just on the 6 bolt, 'n the bearing sizes,...

Re: Extra Trailer Hub

consider getting an extra spindle too.. have it welded to a plate and attach the plate to the trailer frame w u bolts... then put your greased extra hub on the spindle... now it will be available if you need it on the side of the road... Depending on where you mount it you could even bolt the spare tire to it with spare lug nuts.

Re: Extra Trailer Hub

I went all out today. I ordered two spare tires an extra hub and two tire mounts. Last season I had a few issues with the trailer. This season I plan having no issues or at least no issues that will require unhooking the trailer, driving 20 miles to the closest walmart/auto parts store then driving 20 miles back to the trailer to fix something. We live in Raleigh, NC and store the boat by Jordon lake where it gets about 60% of its use. The other 40% could be driving up to Baltimore to do the bay for a long weekend, or down to the coast of NC. I want the trailer 100% and extra parts to minimize down time on the road if/when something breaks.

In my experience, 90% of the time, simply HAVING the spare part will guarantee that the existing one will never fail and you will never need the spare.

That is of course, unless Karma decides to give you a 'whoopin and break more stuff than you could ever HAVE spares enough to handle..... she's a &%$#&% that way.....

i like the idea of mounting a spindle stub to hang the spare hub on, then it can sit there greased and ready to go. So you minimize getting yourself filthy should you have to use it.

Dang you are all set, bring on the break downs (did I just say that). And I thought I was cool because I actually went and got the flat spare tire that came on my used trailer patched and filled with nitrogen. I also recently got a battery powered impact driver, any road trips I go on this summer that thing will be packed in truck tool box.

Do you do this? Seems like a great idea.

Might want to get a spare race/bearing set incase the bearing that goes out is one that is on a brake hub. Along with grease and rags

You bring up a good point.

I figured the OP had brakes on all 4 wheels so he bought a hub that included the disc/drum(depending on what he has) but now that I look at the original post, it was just an idler hub.

Help me understand this. My breaks are only on one axle when taking a part I just unbolt the caliper and take the rotor off (its held on by the rim. Am I missing something here? I don't have drums. Is the above statement meant for drums?

Most disk brake rotors on trailers have an integral hub. Are yours separate from each other? What brand are they?

Very surprised your trailer only has brakes on one axle. Actually, I am shocked you only have brakes on one axle.
