Exhaust plate temperature

[Fouled Plug]

Evinrude 6 pumps plenty of water out of the exhuast, cylinder head and thermostat housing are nice and cool, but the exhaust plate gets too hot to rest a finger on. Am I going to cook my kicker? I like your tagline...You WOULD make a fortune!! We got skeeters down here the size of bees! And they are hungry.<br />That plate ahs direct contact to the comustion chamber, so I'm thinking it's normal. My merc gets warmer at the exaust port plate than it does anywhere else.<br />But get a second opinion.
