Exhaust leaking?

Hello,

Think I have an internal leak in the exhauston my 20HP Johnson 1991. Enigin runs good but sounds rough (loud) and exhaust fumes are coming from two holes in the front of the centre section (see photograph) Assume this is a gastket between the lower section (gear housing) and the exhaust tube or between power head and exhaust. Anybody come across this before?

Hello, had a look in the manual and can't make out if there is a gasket at the gear housing side of the exhaust (Between inner exhaust tube and gear housing). Assume that it is better to first check lower side of the exhaust before pulling power head (probably less work). My question is, is this a problem anyone has worked on before and what the best plan of action is to resolve this or if there are ways to learn/test what the problem is before pulling things apart. There are no signs of leakage between the power head and exhaust as far as I can see, just fumes/noise comming from the two holes (see previous post)
