Exhaust getting hot

I have a big block Chevy and the exhaust is getting really hot right at the beginning of the exhaust header but the rest of the exhaust is cooler. Just curious if it is normal for the exhaust to be really hot at the block? I will post a picture for reference where it is hot.

Ayuh,..... That's where the hottest points are, as that's where there's no water jacket, just cast iron,.....
