excessive for.& aft.prop shaft play

1982 228/pre alpha ser#6088583drive. seems i have too much play for. and aft.isit time for are a rebuild? also i did have some gear lube in bellows.Play in shaft is .043 in.

Your gear lube comes from the input shaft seal in the drive. It needs repaired or you will end up loosing the drive because the gears and bearings run dry (cause the oil leaked into the bellows)
The end play is normal.
