Evinrude Troubles!!!!!!

I have a 1997 Evinrude Special(bought new in 1999), about a month ago the rectifier burned up, about a week ago a ring broke and chewed up a cylinder. The motor is exceptionally well cared for,used easy,etc., any one else with trouble with these motors?Is this related to OMCs troubles, what can i expect from this motor in tha future.Thanks

I can't say much good about them.First, let me say that I don't own one. I am just saying I never will. I refer this to those more qualified to answer,so click on the link below.
