Evinrude tilt guage

hello I have a 1993 Evinrude 140hp outboard and when you turn the key to the on position the tilt guage peg's ...any help would be appreciated.

Between the transom brackets and above the trim motor you should find the trim sender; spray some wd40 on the shaft of the sender and move it up and down a few times; you should feel the spring begin to take over and move the lever up on its own. Good luck.

More than likely it's a bad sender, that's what they do when they fail. (They're nothing more than a potentiometer in fancy clothing.)
