Re: Evinrude starting problem -200XP

It is sorta off topic but:
"Pump up the bulb until firm, raise the fast idle lever about 1/3 of the way, push the key in for a count of 5 and then while holding the key in, start it."

What is the fast idle lever? Or does this refer to the position the throttle/shifter should be in?

If it's like my controls, the engine won't even turn over if you don't have the main throttle/shifter in the neutral position. The fast idle lever is the smaller lever just above your ignition key. I assume you're quoting out of your owner's manual, so there should be a diagram that labels everything.

Nobody has any suggestions for further troubleshooting of my ignition problem in the "'89 Evinrude 150 XP won't fire" thread??? Maybe I need to change the subject title and start a new thread?
