I have a 1982 Evinrude Scout trolling motor, it seems to run ok at the higher range but bearly turns over at the lower ranges. The prop seems to turn stiffly and makes a grinding sound, like it is rubbing on the casing. I took it apart and everything seemed to look ok, with the exception of a little rust here and there, after all it is a 1982 motor. I cleaned the contacts and the magnets with sandpaper, blew off the dust and put it back together. seemed to turn a little better, but I think it could be better.
Ok, here's the question, "Finally", Is there a way to lube the magnets or the cantacts to free it up?
Any sugestions?
