I'm new to this site thought I'd give this a shot
I have an Evinrude Scout Trolling motor which runs fine.. It's 12/24 but I am almost positive that the Run/Charge DPDT switch is shorted. I can hook up 2 12v batteries but as soon as I throw the console switch to Run (for 24V) the breaker off of my 2nd battery always trips! There are no other fuses etc in that circuit and I don't even have my trolling motor plugged into the receptacle at the Console so it can't be the actual motor... It has to be a bad switch.. Where can I get one?
Thanks
Ray

No Serial or Model # on this. It came with a 1989 Stratos

Is this boat new to you? SOunds like someone might have messed with the switch for some reason and gotten the polarity crossed. I multimeter will provide invaluable in diagnosing this problem.

Are you sure you have the batteries connected correctly? There are typically two sets of wires (one pair from each battery) going up front. For this system to operate properly, the switch connects the batteries in parallel (12 volts) for charging through the troller plug. For 24 volts, the switch connects the batteries in series.
