Hi Guys,

I have a 60HP Evinrude 1983 model - should I be using a lead additive in the fuel or was this built for unleaded fuel?

Welcome to iboats

Just use regular unleaded 87 or 89 octane fuel.

Thanks for your reply. I'm in the UK and it's near impossible to get leaded fuel or anything other than regular unleaded. Please see here my options;

I think I should therefore use an Lead Replacement Additive ??

Leaded fuel is not necessary in a two stroke engine, in fact, the great flap about engine disasters when lead was removed from gas was a joke. I have experience in both high performance, Porsche, and lower performance VW air cooled as well as BMW, Mercedes and antique cars. None of the cars experienced the described valve failures that loosing lead was supposed to cause. Now the manufactures say the engineers overreacted to precieved changes. Turns out we were missled.
