evinrude intruder wont shift

1996 Evinrude Intruder V6 150 hp wont shift into forward gear. Launched the boat (1996 Ranger Comanche), engine started fine. Pushed throttle control towards forward and nothing. The engine revved up. Reverse worked fine. Any ideas of what the problem is?

First off, check your shift cable coming from the control box on the mtr for proper movement. (you may have a broken shift cable). Next check all the shift linkages on the mtr. Disconnect the shift cable from the mtr and try shifting it back on the mtr while rotating the prop to see if it locks up in either fwd or rev.
