I don't know the year of my outboard, so I can't tell whether it's pre or post 1964. It's a 28 h.p. Evinrude model number 28202C. Mfg. Peterborough, Ontario.

Does anyone tell me the fuel mixture by the model number?

Re: Evinrude Fuel Mixture

That would be a 1963 model. I'm thinking 24:1 would be correct, but you may be able to go to 40:1 or even 50:1 on that motor. Wait for others to chime in......

24:1 for all pre-1964 engines, Warmitage.

Rick is correct that you might be able to go to 40:1 or 50:1, but why take the risk?

Welcome to iboats. :)

Re: Evinrude Fuel Mixture

There's absolutely no differences between the '63 and '64 other than the new style fuel pump and the transom clamp. But the "official" OMC numbers are as JB says. Have a look at the fuel mix FAQ in the FAQ forum for details.

Thanks Everybody!

I'll try 24:1 to be on the safe side. I bouight this motor for $200.00.

It wouldn't be much of a bargain if I burned it up.

:)
I guarantee you won't burn it up, but I run 24:1 in mine most the time too. Click on my Man-Next-To-House icon - that's my '62 Johnson 28hp.
