Evinrude charging help

I have a 70 hp 1978 evinrude that was not charging i changed the rectifier and the volts with the new rectifier only go up to 13.2 after running on muffs on a bit above idle is this ok or do i need to look at something else plz help

13.2 volts is about right when running at lower than 2000 rpms.
it will only show 14 volts when doing a good amount of revs.

at 13.2 it is charging

It takes quite awhile to build the voltage up to full charge. Then many people come back here complaining it goes too high. That's life.

Too many people think all outboards have modern alternators like cars ha ha
the charging on most older outboards is more like the old magneto's and dynamo's for power.

and to all those who like to run powerfull radio's lights and gadgets, they realy need a second battery.

Take it on the water and run it at wot and then see what you have.

Guys thanks allot for all the replies i was thinking that i had a bigger problem i love this evinrude motor now out of topic here how do i know if i have to change the thermostat thanks for all the replies

If the mtr is running to cold or you have an over heat prob.
