Ok I bought a mid 1950's big twin for 100 bucks from a boat shop. I started tinkering with it, I removed the head gasket and relized the cylinder walls where combustion takes place have been scratched by the pistons. They can be felt by you finger nail. I don't know how bad is bad but the motor seems to have been neglected. I isn't froze up seems to have good compression. JUNK IT or what.

I have seen those old engines run pretty good with scored cylnders. I would check the spark and if it is ok, intall a new head gasket and see if you can get it to run. Will probably have to do some carb work.

Check compression with a guage before investing any more money in it.

Ditto. If the compressions ok, then go for it. These old motors are tough and built to last.
