Hi everyone. I have a 1982 9.9 Evinrude. I recently replaced the water pump and driveshaft (thank you to some helpful forum members), and have the motor running and pumping water great. However....., the tiller handle seems to be 'binding', by that i mean it wont rotate to the FAST position on the marker dial, and the motor can only be operated at part throttle. During the pump repl, I had to take the exhaust housing and tiller handle assms off to access the crank area (to free the driveshaft), but I am pretty certain that I replaced the throttle linkage and handle back in the correct place. As you know there is only one way that they CAN go in because of the little 'teeth' that must match up on each end, to the gears and the tiller handle gear.
Any thoughts on this? Are there other 'controls'. like carb etc, that have some effect on how much you can rotate the tiller handle?
Thanks.
