Just wondering if anyone could explain to me why I am having to put extra oil in when I mix my oil and gas. I have a 1990 Evinrude 88 SPL and since I purchased the engine if I mix it 50 to 1 it will run about 30 mins then lock down and score the piston on bottom left side. After this happens you can add extra oil to it and change that plug and it will straighten up and run on. Normally I just mix it extremly rich it smokes a good bit but runs fine so long as I do this. Was just wondering if maybe it is on its last leg or maybe i'm doing something wrong.....example....over the weekend I mixed it 50 to 1 and it locked down in the middle of the lake after only 10 mins. or so...trolled to shore and added 16 more ounces of oil to the 4 gals or so of gas left and she fired up and played for about 3 more hours. Any comments or suggestions as to why this is would be great thanks!!!!
