Model: AE70TLCDC
I am having some trouble with motor not starting like it is not in neutral.
When I can get it running I get intermittent beep alarm (every second).
What does this mean?
What safeguards does the motor have that would prevent it starting?
Is Outboard Jim out there (#18214)? He was very helpful last time.

beeping every second is the no oil alarm
put 50:1 in it right away
once moter is running squeeze the primer bulb on oil tank just enough to get beeping to stop
if beeping doesn't stop time to rebuild\replace vro pump also change oil filter in tank
there is nothing in vro system to prevent motor from starting only alarms for low oil no oil or engine overheat

Re: Evinrude 70hp alarms

Thanks marinemech. I'll check the oil. I thought the no oil was a fast beep and overheat was a continuous beep. Or is the low oil a fast beep?
If I do away with the VRO and use 50:1 will I need to dis-able the alarm? If so, how?

low oil slow beep

no oil quick beep

overheat steady horn (beep)

Run the motor on 50:1 while you work on the system If you can get it to work,it's a great system.Your problem is that the pump is 1986 and most likely shot.At about $280 US it's pricey to do.

DHP

to run straight 50:1 disconnect and plug oil feed
disconnect three or four wire harness from vro pump just be sure to always use 50 :1
