Turn the idle screws in (GENTLY) all the way until they seat.

Turn each out 1 1/2 turns and tune from there. THey will proabably end up at two turns or so.

buddog,On the top face of the carburetor(which faces the boat)Is the needle valves for the idle mix adjustment that Djohns is refering to.You'll need to remove the intake silencer to access. There is one on each carburetor.Behind the adjustment screw is the removable idle orifice. This orifice can be unscrewed using a small flat tip screw driver and cleared of any obstructions that may be restricting fuel flow.Torch tip cleaners and compressed air work well for this job. This orifice opening is .024" and is prone to gummy restrictions if the engine is not run on a regular basis.Once cleared you can follow Djohns adjustment instructions.Once this is performed the engine should idle around 1000 rpms while running on the hose.Final adjustment should be made in gear ,in water, boat unrestricted, and should idle in gear at around 850 rpm.Your engine is also equipped with an idle speed adjustment on the starboard side of the carb linkage. It is the screw with the spring behind it.You really should get a manual for your engine. They are most helpful in pointing out these adjustments and will familiarize you with the location of the engines components.Good luck

One idle speed screw and three(one on each carb)idle mix screws. The manuals explain it all.
